Larry Scott is managing partner of Scott & Cronin LLP, one of the leading Certified Public Accounting firms in San Diego. Mr. Scott graduated from San Diego State University with an undergraduate degree in Business, Math and Economics and studied accounting in the Graduate School of Business. After starting his career with Price Waterhouse in San Diego in both the tax and auditing departments he formed his own practice in 1978. Mr. Scott holds Series 7 & 66 securities licenses in addition to being licensed as a CPA in California.
The primary emphasis of the practice is individual and business taxation. Many of the firm's clients are closely held corporations, partnerships and limited liability companies. Closely held businesses offer unique tax planning opportunities for the individual and business to provide the maximum benefit and protection to the shareholders and/or partners.
Mr. Scott has worked extensively in real estate transactions and strategies and the use of partnership and LLCs. In addition, Mr. Scott has worked in the area of Offshore and International Tax planning for high wealth individuals. This work has required trips to London, the Isle of Man and Kuwait, with each trip giving a unique perspective on the continuing tax planning process.
Larry has served as treasurer to numerous campaign committees including the former Governor of California, several U. S. Senators, Members of Congress, Members of the State Assembly, San Diego Mayors and others. The firm continues to work on behalf of ballot measure committees, political action committees, and local, state and federal candidates and officeholders.
Mr. Scott serves as Chairman of the RC Baker Foundation, a private philanthropic organization. Larry is an active fundraiser for Challenged Athletes Foundation, and also serves on the boards of After-School All-Stars San Diego and the 100th Anniversary of Naval Aviation Foundation. He is a past treasurer of the California Governor's Council on Physical Fitness.
Mr. Scott is an avid cyclist, participating in many charitable and challenging rides. He also enjoys traveling. Larry has two children and several grandchildren.
Dennis Cronin is the audit partner and director of the vacation ownership division. He graduated from University of New Orleans with honors as a member of Beta Alpha Psi. His career began with Pannell, Kerr, and Forster supervising audits of some of New Orleans finest and well-known hotels and restaurants including the Hilton Riverside, Fairmont Roosevelt and Monteleone Hotel. In 1985 he moved to San Diego, eventually partnering with Larry Scott. Mr. Cronin is a member of the Louisiana State Board of Certified Public Accountants and the California State Board of Accountancy where he is licensed to practice.
As audit partner Mr. Cronin’s responsibilities include accounting and auditing services and quality control for the firm. Under Mr. Cronin’s direction, the firm has successfully completed independent peer reviews conducted by a team appointed by the California Society of CPAs.
With over 20 years of experience, Mr. Cronin has worked with some of the most experienced and honored companies in the San Diego area. Scott & Cronin have performed over 50 audits for companies in the real estate development, construction, technology, retail and not-for-profit industries located on the West Coast.
Mr. Cronin’s background experience in audit and tax offers an excellent combination of services strictly tailored for closely held companies located in the Southern California area. His extensive knowledge includes an understanding of the complex and current financial reporting issues and requirements under GAAP and GAAS along with IRS and State tax rules and regulations for closely held companies, including the benefits of C Corps, S Corps, LLCs and partnerships and the inter workings of these entities with the individual owners.
Jason has a balanced, long-term focus on the growth and development of both the tax and audit sides of the firm. He graduated with a BA in Accounting from the University of Northern Iowa and has been a practicing CPA since July 2000. His work includes tax and auditing with an emphasis in high-net-worth individuals, multi entity tax structures and large entities. Jason is also responsible for supervision of tax team members and the technological direction of the practice.
He resides in San Diego with his wife. Together they enjoy participating in various outdoor activities and traveling. They are also actively involved in fundraising events benefiting After School All-Stars and the Challenged Athletes Foundation.
Ariann joined Scott & Cronin’s Tax & Accounting Department in January 2008. Her responsibilities include preparing tax returns and assisting in the completion of audits and reviews.
She received her BA in public accounting from Augsburg College in Minneapolis and worked at a local accounting firm in the area before she and her husband relocated to San Diego in 2007.
Ariann enjoys spending time with her family, traveling and getting to know the state of California and the San Diego area. These days she finds herself spending most of her free time taking care of and enjoying her two young girls.
Jordan joined Scott & Cronin full-time in January 2010 after training as an intern for a year. He graduated from San Diego State University in 2009 with a Bachelor of Arts in Accountancy. Jordan looks forward to beginning his career with the firm and gaining experience in the tax and accounting industry. He plans to obtain his CPA license in the near future.
Jordan was born and raised in San Diego and plans on staying local for many years. He grew up playing hockey and in his spare time enjoys riding his bike, playing drums and snowboarding at any chance he can get.
Glenn joined Scott & Cronin, LLP in early 2012, where he assists in the preparation of audits and reviews as well as tax returns. He received his BS in Accounting and Finance in addition to his MBA from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo before starting his accounting career at a regional San Francisco firm.
A proud native of San Diego County, Glenn relocated from Northern California in 2011 to be close to family and friends. His hobbies allow him to enjoy the wonderful San Diego sun. Whether he’s kayaking on the bay, working with his horse, or riding in the desert, he can usually be found outdoors in his spare time.
Nancy is the Director of the firm’s Political Reporting Unit. She supervises a staff of Political Reporting Specialists who are responsible for preparing complicated federal, state and local campaign, lobbying, and “major donor” financial disclosure reports. The division seeks to help its clients achieve their political goals while avoiding enforcement pitfalls.
In addition to providing daily bookkeeping, payroll, tax and election law compliance to her clients involved in the political and legislative process, Nancy is frequently invited to participate in panel discussions regarding the applications of such laws. Her expertise in financial disclosure has been valuable to students at SDSU and UCSD Extension, professionals at the California Association of Realtors and LEAD San Diego.
Prior to joining Scott & Cronin in 1997, she spent 10 years working extensively in the field of campaign management and fundraising. She has worked for numerous public officials and political organizations at all levels of government.
Nancy received her BA in Public Administration with a concentration in Political Science from San Diego State University. She is involved in a number of civic and political organizations in San Diego County and is an active memberof the California Political Treasurers Association.
Nancy resides in Carlsbad and spends her free time traveling, cooking and enjoying various outdoor activities.
Danielle officially joined the Political Finance Division of Scott & Cronin in 2016 after interning for a year and working part-time. She is responsible for preparing federal, state and local campaign disclosure reports for political action committees and state and local candidates. Danielle recently obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Accounting. She looks forward to gaining more expertise within the Political Finance Division and also hopes to receive her CPA license in the future.
Danielle is originally from Sacramento, California and dreamed about moving to Sunny San Diego once she completed high school. She was able to call San Diego home in 2011 and doesn’t plan to change that any time soon. In her free time, she enjoys the beach as much as she can. Danielle likes to spend her free time with friends and family, both in San Diego and back home in Sacramento. She also enjoys going to the gym, playing basketball and the many other outdoor activities that San Diego offers.
Lori handles the daily business functions of the organization. Her primary responsibilities include managing client billing, accounts receivables and payables as well as coordinating human resources activities and overseeing the firm website.
Before joining Scott & Cronin in 1999, she spent ten years as a partner in a political consulting firm and also enjoyed a career in banking, specializing in consumer lending project management.
Lori has a BA from UCLA and has volunteered for numerous political and community organizations. She is a yoga teacher and life passages ceremony specialist. She lives with her husband in Valley Center with their dogs, cats and ducks, and enjoys riding the backcountry trails with her horse.
Susan joined Scott & Cronin in July 2011, and brings with her a wealth of experience in the area of administration. Her background includes administrative support for a Michigan accounting firm, a multi-unit restaurant franchisee and managing a family transportation business.
Her primary responsibilities are office management and general support to the firm’s three partners and accounting staff. She is fully dedicated to superior client service and facilitating the growth and success of the firm.
Susan lives with her husband, Noel, in Oceanside. Her interests include reading, yoga and travelling. Venezuela, Ghana, Toronto and Michigan are a few of the places Susan has called home. Free time is spent relaxing on the beach, enjoying friends and family, or exploring the scenic roads of California with her husband on his Harley.
